Lots of good “suggested reading” in this piece. I have to agree with the reader who says Tender is the Night beats The Great Gatsby. It has more genuine emotion and maturity than Fitzgerald’s earlier work (deserves its own post at some point). I haven’t read War and Peace so I can’t say whether Anna Karenina really is superior but it is certainly in my Top 10. I’m off to find A Handful of Dust and some Jospeh Heller.
